Transforming Learning with Technology: Supporting Diverse Learners through iPads and Accessible Tools
Length of presentation is 40 mins (12:20 - 1:00pm)
Many schools have already integrated iPads into their teaching and learning strategies, and with the ongoing rollout of iPads in various local authorities across the country, we now have a powerful educational tool available in classrooms. Used effectively, this technology is particularly beneficial for supporting learners with diverse needs, including those facing challenges in communication, English as an Additional Language (EAL), and dyslexia.
Even with a limited number of devices, teachers can transform language and communication learning for all students, whether in mainstream, Special Education Needs (SEN), or other inclusive education settings.
In this session, I will provide an overview of a series of accessibility-focused lessons I co-created and demonstrate how iPads and laptops can be effectively used in the classroom. You'll discover how short, targeted activities can support learners while also alleviating teacher workload, particularly when it comes to differentiating phonics and spelling instruction.
